Tracking your fitness performance during an Ultimate Frisbee game can give you incredible insight into your body, athletic production, and what type of training you’ll need to improve. One of the best ways to track your fitness performance is using wearable fitness technology. I’ve researched some of the best Ultimate Frisbee fitness tech, and listed them below. You’ll find what you are looking for here, so you can improve your workouts and avoid that last place trophy!
Fitness Tech Watches
Fitbit Charge 4
In my opinion, the Fitbit Charge 4 is the Ultimate Frisbee fitness tech watch out there right now. It tracks movement through GPS as well as your heart rate, which can give you solid data during a tournament – or during your workouts. The Fitbit Charge 4 also has an excellent sleep track function, which can be very useful leading up to big tournaments and games. It is worth noting that there is a suite of advanced features that can be used with the Fitbit Charge 4 – but they are locked behind a premium subscription of $80 per year.
The Fitbit Charge 4 is great for most Ultimate Frisbee players. However, if you are looking for really advanced feature and performance tracking, you might be better served with a high end Garmin wearable.
The one hesitancy I have with the Fitbit Charge 4 (and really, all watches), is that the watch is attached to your wrist. I have seen plenty of Ultimate Frisbee players throw a flick or lay out, and their pricey watch ends up on the ground. Despite this, a few of my teammates have told me they haven’t had any issues wearing a watch. Despite this, it should work well for workouts and Ultimate Frisbee drills though.
Amazfit Bip U Health Fitness Smartwatch
The Amazfit Bip U Health Fitness Smartwatch is a high quality and value-driven fitness smartwatch. If the FitBit Charge 4 is out of your price range, the Amazfit might be your best value option. It offers most of the same features the FitBit does (albeit, sometimes with less bells and whistles).
Two areas the Amazfit may lack, are app development and add-ons. FitBit gives their app development full support, and it is very easy to use. The Amazfit lags behind this ease of use, especially on some phone ecosystems. Second, there are few add-ons for the Amazfit, and finding even simple accessories (like a replacement charger) may be more challenging than it should.
Again, I’ll give the same word of caution about wearing a watch while playing Ultimate Frisbee. It’s easy to throw a flick, or bid for a disc, and have your watch end up on the ground. However, some teammates say it’s never been a problem. Regardless, this watch would work well for workouts, and Ultimate Frisbee Training.
Fitness Tracker Wearables
TScosche Rhythm+ Heart Rate Monitor Armband
The TScosche Rhythm Heart Rate Monitor Armband works very similar to a fitness smartwatch, with one difference – it goes over your forearm or bicep, instead of on your wrist. It connects to your device via Bluetooth, and works with a wide variety of fitness apps.
This is actually my favorite type of Ultimate Frisbee fitness tech, because it can be worn in the least conspicuous place while playing Ultimate Frisbee. When wearing a watch, a flick huck could send the watch flying. When wearing a chest heart rate monitor, a layout could heart quite a bit. The TScosche Rhythm+ can be worn on your forearm, or better yet your bicep, which is much more out of the way than other wearable fitness tech.
POLAR H10 Heart Rate Monitor Chest Strap
The Polar H10 Heart Rate Monitor Chest Strap is a great and durable piece of wearable fitness tech. Chest heart rate monitors are often more accurate than fitness watches, and this is no exception. The Polar H10 can connect with your device via Bluetooth, and actually supports more than one Bluetooth connection, so you can use the Polar H10 with other wearable fitness tech! It also is compatible with a large variety of fitness apps.
The Polar H10 doesn’t have a ton of data storage though. If you are looking to track your fitness data, be sure to sync with your device after each workout, otherwise you might lose your data. The other issue I see with the Polar H10 (and all chest heart rate monitors), is that they are wrapped around your chest! Most of the time that’s fine, but all it takes is one layout, and you (or your pricey tech) are hurting! Keep that in mind if you plan to wear the Polar H10 during a game – though it should be fine for all workouts, and even some practices.
