After playing Ultimate Frisbee for a while, you may ask yourself how you can get better. Team practice is the obvious response, but you may not always have a team to practice with. So how can you get better at throwing by yourself? One answer, is to practice by using an Ultimate Frisbee Net.
When I was in college, I realized the biggest barrier to my own improvement as a player were my throws. So, to practice, I took 10 discs out to an empty field, and practiced pivoting and hucks. Over, and over, and over again. It helped! But, after hucking 10 times, I had to go collect the discs, and, well, I ended up wasting a lot of time.

There aren’t many nets made specifically for Ultimate Frisbee, but there are several great nets made for other sports. This golf net can be used as a great Ultimate Frisbee target net. It can be tied between two objects (like a tree, bush, or hung on a garage), and has a great target on the front to aim for.
The flexibility of this net is also its weakness. It can’t stand on its own without long guide lines staked into the ground. So if you like to practice in a well curated field, this net won’t work for you. But if you need to practice in a crowded area, and don’t want your disc to hit a tree, this net is for you!
GoSports Golf Practice Hitting Net
If you need an Ultimate Frisbee goal net that can stand on its own, this net is great! It’s lightweight, catches your discs as you throw, and packs up into a small (but long) shoulder bag. This is a great net to use if you are going to practice throws in an open field.
The one downside of this net is that it doesn’t have a target in the center. Because of that, this net may not be the best for short throws (though it wouldn’t be too hard to hang a target on the net). However, it would be great for practicing hucks on your own.
GoSports Football Trainer Throwing Net
If you want an Ultimate Frisbee practice net that offers a bit more challenge, this throwing trainer net is great. It’s built for football, but can be used just as well for Ultimate Frisbee. It offers a lightweight and flexible net that stands on its own, but the best part is that it has three different pockets. Each pocket can be aimed for when practicing short throws, making it easy to see how your accuracy improves over time.
This net is great overall, but a bit smaller than the other nets, so you do need a good level accuracy before beginning to use the net (though, you can just move closer if you need).
